Cetelem
Cetelem mapped consumer-credit origination, scoring, and collections logic across five European platforms.
Cetelem, the BNP Paribas Personal Finance brand, runs high-volume consumer-credit operations — point-of-sale finance, personal loans, revolving credit and partner-lender programmes — across several European markets, each with its own regulatory framework and decisioning history. As Cetelem moved toward a converged personal-finance core, the country-specific COBOL platforms had become opaque even to the teams that maintained them.
COBOLpro mapped the origination, scoring, dunning and collections logic across five of those legacy platforms. The work captured locally adapted decisioning rules, partner-lender integrations, and the operational workflows that sat between application intake and collections handoff. Outputs were validated by the original system owners and aligned to the regulatory frame each market sits under, including the EU Consumer Credit Directive and PSD2.
The reviewed reference now anchors Cetelem's modernisation sequencing decisions: which rule sets are reusable, which are country-specific, and which need rewrites. Risk, compliance, and audit teams share the same evidence base — accelerating regulatory submissions and giving programme leadership a deterministic view of what 'lift-and-shift' actually means for each platform.
